My family and I celebrated my 28th birthday with the mother-daughter tandem of Lily Cruz and Liz Goldenberg. It's great that Lily and Liz made the Philippines their point of rendezvous. Liz has been out and about around the world having been to England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, and Morocco. I believe that those were the countries I remembered and I needed to check her Facebook account to see the places she has been to.
The day started with a tour around the Mahogany Market. Liz was out and about taking pictures of the fruits and vegetables. The biggest surprise for me came at the meat section. Tagaytay is known for their beef and Liz seeing the meat without refrigeration was a very daunting experience for her. She couldn't handle the smell of the fresh meat. The typical markets in the Philippines have meats sold at that manner, but there are supermarkets that sell refrigerated meats. That tour for others would have been a shocking experience for others to the point that they might become vegetarians.
We then proceed to Sonya's Garden. It was my first time and I was told that it's a buffet of salad and pasta. I love pasta so it's a match made in heaven. It's coincidental that the menu was predominantly vegetarian so Liz forgot the experience in the market a few minutes earlier. I was so full but it's great to know that you ate healthy. We had a tour at a few rooms that they were offering. For more pictures of the rooms and the details on my Sonya's garden experience, check my entry on Sonya's Garden.
We ended the long day with a visit to the view of Taal Lake and Volcano. Sadly I ran out of battery for my camera so I didn't take a lot of pictures of the view. It was a great day for me and I really felt that we made the most of the day tour in Tagaytay.
